- “The Canadian Glacier Information Centre (CGIC) was established in 1992, in an effort to consolidate an extensive Canadian collection of data and literature concerning, though not limited to, Canadian glaciers. The principal collection element is the Canadian Glacier Inventory (CGI), a printed and electronic catalogue of Canada's glaciers. The CGI is complemented by an air photo collection which, in conjunction with a National Topographic System map collection, was used to identify, catalogue and classify the perennial surface ice features in Canada. The CGIC also houses regional glacier inventories generated by other institutions and other types of information on Canadian glaciers. Much of the CGIC collection is rare and cannot be found elsewhere.”
